Reception Newsletter 30th November
We have been extra busy this week with our Nativity rehearsals and have enjoyed some focused handwriting group work and our usual fun Phonics sessions. It was lovely to see many of you at the Christmas Bazaar last Friday, we have raised a great amount this year so thank you for supporting the school.
This week we have continued our Phase 3 phonics learning. So far, we have learnt ‘ch’, ‘sh’, and hard/soft ‘th’. We have also learnt the following tricky words: I, to, the, no, go, me, my, he, she. Next week we are learning ‘ng’ (in sing) ‘ai’ (in sail) and ‘ee’ (in sheep) and the tricky words ‘all’ and ‘we’.
Today, your child will bring home a reply slip for our Parent Involvement morning on Thursday 14th December. Please fill this in and return it to us, regardless of whether you can make it. Thank you.
Upcoming dates to remember:
Monday 11th/Tuesday 12th December – Nativity performances (details out today)
Thursday 14th December – Parent Involvement (9am – 11am) Details next week.
Friday 15th December – Break up from school for Christmas at 1pm
Wednesday 3rd January – Children return to school
Things to try at home this week
- Ask your child to perform their Nativity song and dance!
- Make some phonics or tricky word cards. You can then use these for lots of games! Try sound or word splat – you call out a sound/word and your child has to splat the correct card with their hand. Phonics sheep is also a fun game. Hang letters or words around and call them out – your child has to move (skip, jog, walk, run, jump, hop etc) to the correct card. Have fun!
Have a fantastic weekend!
