Reception Newsletter 18th May
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have had five new arrivals – our chicks! The children have been very excited by their arrival and have spent lots of time observing them in their incubator and pen. Today the children all had the opportunity to hold or stroke the chicks with everyone taking very good care of them. At the end of next week they will be joining some other young chicks and chickens at Miss Broom’s farm. She will be keeping us updated with lots of photos of them as they develop and change.
Tomorrow is class photo day. Please ensure your child has the appropriate school uniform.
Tomorrow we have also asked the children to bring in a soft toy for our Porridge tasting picnic.
PE kits were sent home yesterday/today. Children do not need to have PE kit in school until Tuesday, when we ask that they arrive at school wearing PE kit and trainers, not plimsolls.
Miss Mabin’s class will have library on Wednesday next week due to the sponsored scramble being on Tuesday in our library slot.
In Literacy this week we have been writing our own stories featuring the character ‘Goldilocks’ and imagining what cheeky things she would get up to in our houses if she were to sneak in. Next week we will be completing our stories and including some illustrations too. We will also be writing about how to care for our new chicks.
The children have enjoyed exploring our new maths resources this week. We have focused on showing our understanding of addition and subtraction number sentences to 20 and using resources to help us find the answers.
Things to try at home this week
- Try and solve some simple number sentences using small objects at home. Maybe you and your child could write one together and try solving it!
- Next week the children will be painting their ‘Favourite View of Seaton’ as part of a local art competition. Maybe you could have a walk to your favourite place in Seaton in preparation for this?
Have a wonderful weekend.
