Reception Newsletter 12th July 2018

Dear Parents,

We have thoroughly enjoyed watching our chicks grow up. They have grown so fast that they will no longer be able to be kept in school so will be going home to Miss Broom’s farm tonight. The children have been writing them notes and creating pictures for them and we will miss them.

Literacy

This week we have produced some absolutely excellent writing about our chicks. All of the teachers are extremely impressed with the outstanding effort the children have put in. Well done to everyone! Next week we will be doing some writing and planning connected to our trip to The World of Country Life in Exmouth on Friday.

Maths

This week we have been shopping! The children have been using coins or a combination of coins to pay for different items. They have been problem solving how to make the larger amounts using a variety of coins. Next week we will be using the Beebot’s to explore direction and positioning with technology. The children will be directing the Beebot toys to different points on a map.

New Classes and Reports

Tomorrow we will be sending home your child’s end of year reports. Inside the report will be information about your child’s teacher/s next year. The children will be visiting their new classroom and meeting the teachers on Monday afternoon. You will also be able to meet them and see where your child will be from 3:30pm, as we have an Open Evening for all parents until 6pm.

Things you could try at home

  • Take a look at the World of Country Life website in preparation for our trip next week. The map is always very exciting.
  • Share your child’s report with them. Talk about some of their favourite things from their time in Reception.
